Steve Tasker Award
SPECIAL UNITS PLAYER OF THE YEAR
The Tasker Award is given to a Special Units player on each level who has the greatest impact on Special Units like past NFL-great, Steve Tasker. Despite a tiny stature by NFL standards (5'8', 183 lbs.), Steve Tasker gained a reputation as one of the league's most feared hitters as both a punt and kickoff coverage man. Contributing to his success was his relentless effort; although not the fastest player, Tasker was almost always the first player to reach the return man.
Steve Tasker was the first player to establish himself as a major star almost exclusively through special teams play without being either a kicker or a return man. He played in seven Pro Bowls as a special-teamer and was named the game's MVP in 1993. Many consider him to be the greatest special teams player of all time.
